Frequently Asked Questions
Where do the live scores come from?
Scores, start times, and game statuses come from MLB's public Stats API — the same data source that powers many scoreboard apps. The tracker loads the full slate when you open the page, and while games are in progress it refreshes every 60 seconds automatically (you can also refresh manually anytime). Live games show the current inning; final games are marked final and their runs are "banked" in the summary.
How is the salami line estimated?
If you haven't typed in a line, the tracker sums the individual game over/under totals for the day's slate — which is essentially how sportsbooks construct the grand salami number in the first place. The estimate usually lands within a run of the posted line, but books shade their numbers and totals move throughout the day, so always enter the actual line from your sportsbook once you've placed the bet. Typing a number in the "Salami line" box overrides the estimate.
Why do the times show ET?
Baseball runs on Eastern time — that's how MLB publishes its schedule and how most books list first pitch. Displaying every game in ET keeps the slate consistent no matter where you're checking from, and avoids the confusion of a 10:10 PM ET West Coast game looking like it belongs to the next day.
What happens if a game is postponed?
The tracker will flag the game as postponed as soon as MLB updates the status. What it means for your bet depends entirely on your sportsbook's house rules — many books void the grand salami if any scheduled game fails to go official, while others have different policies. Check your book's rules, especially on days with rain in the forecast.
Do extra innings count?
Yes. Every run scored in every game counts toward the total, including extra innings. A 12-inning marathon can quietly add three or four runs to your total long after the "scheduled" nine.
Is my data stored anywhere?
Only in your own browser. The line you enter, the side you pick, and your slate history live in your browser's local storage — nothing is sent to a server, and there are no accounts. Clearing your browser data clears your saved slates. See the privacy policy for details.
Can I look at past days?
Yes — change the slate date at the top of the tracker. Any date you've tracked keeps its line, your side, and the final scores. You can also load a past date fresh and the tracker will pull that day's final results from MLB.
Does this site take bets?
No. Salami Board is a free tracking tool only. It doesn't accept wagers, hold funds, or recommend picks. Sports betting involves real financial risk and isn't legal in every jurisdiction — know your local laws, only bet what you can afford to lose, and if gambling stops being fun, the National Problem Gambling Helpline is available at 1-800-GAMBLER.
